To all the faithful of the Roman Catholic Church of Totemia,
With humility and gratitude before God, I, Pope John I, Bishop of Mitterling and Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church of Totemia, announce my resignation from the Papal Office.
It has been my great honor to serve the Church and its faithful. During my time as Pope, I was blessed to witness the growth of the Church, including my official consent of the establishment and the consecration of the Archbasilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Roxbarren, Talevontage, may it remain a symbol of faith and unity for generations.
My resignation shall officially take effect at 12:00 PM EST. Upon the vacancy of the Papal Office, I appoint Pope Francis I as my direct successor and the next Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church of Totemia, and he will assume the office of Bishop of Roxbarren. I pray that God grants him wisdom and strength in his new responsibility. It will be the job of the faithful to determine over time if he is fit to lead the Church.
I also entrust the faithful of the Church with the duty to discern, over time, whether the new Pope faithfully serves the Church, upholds its teachings, and proves worthy of this sacred office.
I leave the Papal Office with peace and gratitude, praying for the continued growth and unity of the Roman Catholic Church of Totemia.
May God bless the Church and all its faithful.
Pope John I
Bishop of Mitterling
Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church of Totemia
